Oultlaw 2016/17 Racing Season Rules

NOVICE Class:

The novice class is for entry-level drivers that are new to RC racing. If you are consistently running lap times equal to a regular class, the race director has the choice to move you up.

The rules for the novice class are:

  • Truck
    • Short Course 2wd
    • Short Course 4×4 – this class is not recommended for novices, please contact Outlaw before coming to the track. You may be asked to run in regular class or limit your power.
  • Buggy
    • 2wd Buggy
    • 4wd Buggy – this class is not recommended for novices, please contact Outlaw before coming to the track. You may be asked to run in regular class or limit your power.

Note: Stadium trucks may be grouped with buggy or truck class, to be determined by the race director.

Note: you may run both Novice classes, please see Transponder section below. You cannot run in 1 novice class and in 1 regular class.

  • Motor limit:
    • RTR
      • Brushless (ex. Traxxas Slash VXL, Team Associated SC10)
        • Traxxas Velineon, Reedy 3300kv brushless or similar
      • Brushed (ex. Traxxas Rustler XL-5)
        • 12t (ex. Traxxas Titan 12t)
    • Kit build (ex. Team Associated B5M)
      • 17.5t
      • 3300kv
  • Tires: Any tires are allowed.

 

For the 2016 / 2017 Indoor Carpet Season, Outlaw RC will run the following classes:

  • Novice Truck – see above for details
  • Novice Buggy – see above for details
  • Spec classes:
    • 2wd Buggy
      • 17.5t
      • Blinky esc
      • 1500g minimum weight limit
    • Stadium class
      • 17.5t
      • Blinky esc
      • 1700g minimum weight limit
  • Open 2wd Short Course
    • 3”/2.2” wheels
  • Open 4wd Short Course
    • 3”/2.2” wheels
  • Open Stadium Truck
    • 2.2” wheels
  • Open 2wd Buggy
    • 2.2” or 2.4” wheels
  • Open 4wd Buggy
    • 2.2” or 2.4” wheels

 

General Rules:

  • Batteries
    • 6-cell or 7-cell NiMh
    • 2s LiPo – MUST be hard case, no exceptions.
  • Transponders
    • Personal transponders are mandatory except in Novice classes
    • Novice – you can use our house transponders for free.
      • Novices running 2 classes are strongly encouraged to purchase a personal transponder
  • Corner marshalling is mandatory.
  • Chassis protectors are mandatory
  • 2 minutes between heats during qualifying.
  • Tires:
    • Slicks
    • Street tread
    • Clay tread
    • No pin type
    • Novice see above
    • Traction compound: SXT 3.0 only – no home brews.
      • This will NOT be for sale at the track, but is available at the Local Hobby Shops.
  • Outlaw RC Club membership will be mandatory for insurance purposes.
